Notes: James Jackson married Elizabeth Hooker on 6 Oct 1816 in Montgomery, Ohio. Fourteen children
were born of this union. In the 1820 U.S. census, James and Elizabeth were living in Wayne, Randolph (now
Delaware), Indiana. Their children, Hiram and Rachael, were both under ten years. James bought land in
this county on 20 Dec 1823. In the 1830 U.S. census, James and Elizabeth were living in the Liberty Twp., Delaware, Indiana. They now had seven children. They moved to Wells County, Indiana on 17 January 1937. They along with Harry Mossburg were the first settlers in Liberty Twp., Wells County. In the 1840 U.S. census, James and Elizabeth were living in Liberty Twp., Wells, Indiana. James was now identified as working in agriculture. They had seven children still at home. In the 1850 U.S. census, James, 63, and Elizabeth, 53, were still in Liberty Twp., Wells County. James is now identified as a farmer. The children at home were Levi, 26, William, 23, Samuel, 16, Hannah, 16, and Benjamin, 1. James Jackson died 8 Dec 1853, at the age of 68, in Wells County, Indiana. Elizabeth Jackson died in Mar 1865. They are buried in the McFarren Cemetery, Bluffton, Wells, Indiana. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
