George Rath
      George J. Rath, 100, died Friday at a Napa convalescent hospital after a long illness.
      Mr. Rath was born and educated in Ford County, Ill.  He moved to South Dakota in 1911 and lived and worked there for 25 years.
      He married Sena Bertram in Herman, Minn.  Later, he and his wife moved back to Ford County to the family farm, where they lived and farmed until moving to Petaluma in 1929.
      Mr. Rath worked for Poehlman's Hatchery in Petaluma for more than 36 years.  He and his wife moved to Napa after his retirement in 1965.
      Mr. Rath is survived by two sons, Garrett of Morgan Hill and Clarence of Napa, and one daughter, Shirley Nielsen of Napa.  He also leaves nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
      Friends are invited to attend graveside services on Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Cypress Hills Memorial Park, 430 Magnolia Avenue in Petaluma.  Services are under the direction of the Parent-Sorenson Mortuary in Petaluma.
