Notes: In the 1910 U.S. census, George H. Walker, 34, born in Nevada, and his wife Alice L. Walker, 29,
born in Utah, were living in Hinckley, Millard, Nevada. George was a general farmer, farming on his own
account. They owned the farm free of mortgage. They had been married 11 years, and Alice had had
six children, all of them then living. They were Rulie (Rela), 10, Leslie G., 8, Reed C., 6, Hosea L., 4,
and Alma L., 1 month, all born in Utah. Also in the household was James H. Hepworth, 13, born in Utah,
a nephew. The oldest two children and James had attended school.
Alma Leo died in 1911 from bronchial pneumonia following the measles. Jay Everett was born in 1912,
Elizabeth in 1914 (in Rockville), Rolf Stout in 1916, and Ned Stout in 1918. Rolf died in 1919 of
pernicous anemia.
In the 1920 U.S. census, Hinckley, George H. Walker, 45, and his wife Alice S. Walker, 39, owned their house,
not a farm, free of mortgage. George was a salesman for a lumber company. The children were Rela,
20, Leslie G., 18, in school, Reed C., 15, in school, Hosea L., 13, in school, Orson W., 9, in school, Everett, 7,
Elizabeth, 5, and Ned S., 1. Following that census, Karl Francis and Floyd Henry were added to the family.
George Henry Walker died 21 Aug 1927, following gall bladder surgery in the L.D.S. Hospital, Salt Lake City,
Salt Lake, Utah. Rela died of apoplexy in 1928 in the Utah State Hospital, Provo, Utah, Utah.
Elizabeth also died in the Utah State Hospital, of lombar pneumonia, with mental deficiency in 1930.
In the 1930 U.S. census, Hinckley, Alice S. Walker, 49, now widowed, was sharing the house with Reed C., 25,
Hosea, 23, Ned, S., 11, and Karl F., 8. She owned the house, valued at $2,000., and the family did not
own a radio set. The three boys were attending school.
Alice is not found in the 1940 U.S. census records. She died 6 Nov 1960 in Fontana, San Bernardino,
California. |
