Notes: By 1918, when Robert Sinclair registered for the World War draft, the family had moved to
Littlerock north of Los Angeles. Robert listed himself as a teamster. By 1920,
he and Belle Sinclair had their own fruit ranch in Littlerock, California.
Besides Gladys and Willard, Genevive age 7 years, and Grace, age 5 years had been
added to the family.
In the 1930 U.S. census, Belle Sinclair, 46, now a widow, was living in the
Antelope Twp., Los Angeles, California. She owned the ranch and was a
fruit farmer. The children at home were J. Willard, 21, an engineer
for an ice and cold storage place, Genevive C., 18, and Mary G., 15,
attending school. Two boarders in the household were Dolla Matay, 21,
an ice truck driver and his brother Jerry Matay, 18, laborer in the fruit
orchards. Their parents were from Czechosalvakia.
In 1930, Belle and her son Willard appeared in the voter registration records,
listed as Republican. The address of the ranch was given as Sec 13, T 5,
R 11W. Belle was listed as a rancher, and Willard as an engineer. |
