Marg Flemming, and Mary Brown, 19, born 1849 in Edinburgh, Scotland, daughter of Thomas Brown and
Rubina Hisslop, were married 4 Dec 1868 in Perth, Ontario.
In the 1871 Census of Canada, Alexander Campbell, 26, born in Ontario of Scotish
origin, and Mary (Brown) Campbell, 21, born in Scotland, were living in Logan Twp., Perth North,
Ontario. Their daughter Rubenia Campbell, born in Ontario, was 1 year. Alexander was
a farmer, and their religious preference Presbyterian.
In the 1881 Census of Canada, Logan Twp., Perth North, Alexander, 36, and Mary, 30, had added to
their family. The children included Robina, 12, Andrew, 9, Thomas, 7, Maggie, 5, George, 3,
and John, 1 year, all born in Ontario.
In the 1891 Census of Canada, Logan Twp., Perth North, Alexander, 45, and Mary, 40, had again added to
their family. The children included Robina, 21, Andrew, 19, Thomas, 17, Maggie, 15, George, 13,
John, 11, Mary, 9, William, 7, Minnie, 5, Robert, 3, and Jennie, 3 months.
In the 1901 Census of Canada, Logan Twp., Perth North, Alexander, 56, born 16 Oct 1844, and Mary, 51, born
13 Jul 1847, were still on the farm. The children included George, 23, farm laborer, born
10 Jul 1877, William A., farm laborer, 17, born 30 Sep 1883, Minnie J., 15, born 1885, Robert H., 13,
born 25 Oct 1887, and Jennie, 10, born 12 Sep 1890.
Alexander died in 1907. In the 1911 Canada census, Mary, 62, now a widow, was living in
Brodhagen Village, Logan Twp. Perth South. Living with her were Robert, 23, farmer, and Jan, 20,
seamstress. Mary died in 1930. Both Alexander and Mary are buried in
North Logan (Harvey's) Cemetery, Carmunnock, Perth, Ontario. |
