Notes: In the 1910 U.S. census, Avery J. Bishop, 24, and his wife Lemira, 24, were living in Burtner,
Millard, Utah. They owned their own farm with a mortgage. Both Avery and Lemira were school teachers
in the local school district. They had a daughter, Erma, 17 months old. The census enumerated them
next to the Anthony E. Stephenson household.
By the time John Avery Bishop,32, registered for the World War I draft, they were living in Delta, Millard,
Utah, where John was a farmer.
In the 1920 U.S. census, John A. Bishop, 34, and his wife Lemira Bishop, 34, were living in Delta (Town), Millard,
Utah. John was a farm manager, working for a wage or salary. They owned their home free of
mortgage. Their children were Erma, 11, attending school, Avery A., 6, attending school, Frank W. 3,
Mohonri M. 3, and John A., 8 months.
In the 1930 U.S. census, Delta (Town), Millard, Utah, John A. Bishop, 44, and his wife Lemira Bishop, 45, owned
their own home, valued at $3,000. and had a radio set. Although they did not live on a farm, John was a
farmer, doing general farming on his own account. Their children were Erma, 21, Alvin A., 26, Frank W., 13,
Mahonri M., 12, John A., 11, Lemira, 8, Ava, 5, and Ora M., 14 months. Alvin, Frank, Mahonri, John and
Lemira were attending school.
In the 1940 U.S. census, Delta, Millard, Utah, John Avery Bishop, 54, and his wife Lemira Bishop, 54, were living
on Center Street 3rd West, the same house as in 1935. They owned the house, valued at $3,000. John was
a manager. and had completed 2 years of college. Lemira had completed 1 year of college. Their
children at home were Frances, 23, 1 year of college, doing odd jobs; Mahonri M., 22, 1 year of college,
doing odd jobs; John A., 21, 1 year of college, doing odd jobs; Lemira, 18, 3 years of high school; Ava, 15,
8th grade; and Ora May, 11, fifth grade.
When John Avery Bishop died 12 Apr 1962, he was a farmer, residing at 89 North 300 West, Delta, Millard, Utah.
