| Notes: Frances Elizabeth Smith (Fran) was born 19 Feb 1925, at home, 123 Oakcrest Ave., in
San Antonio, Bexar, Texas. She was the youngest of seven children of Robert Marion Smith, a carpenter, and
Annie Donavon. In the 1930 U.S. census, Francis Smith, 5, was living with her family at 2802 Sabinas, San Antonio, Bexas, Texas. Her father Robert, 52, was a contractor/employer, building houses. The family owned their home, valued at $3,000. but did not have a radio set. Her siblings at home were Sydney, 23, a construction surveyor; Woodrow, 15, a jewelry manufacturer delivery boy; Ruth 12, Julia, 10, and Marian. A sister Virginia had married in 1928. In the 1940 U.S. census, Frances Smith, 15, was living with her family at 123 Oakcrest, San Antonio, Bexar, Texas. Her father had died in 1934, and her mother, Annie Smith, 53, was now head of household. Her siblings at home were Sidney, 33, a house painter; Woodrow, 25, a wath repairer; Ruth 23, a typist for the city, Julie, 20, and Marianne, 18. Everyone had completed high school except Frances, who had completed one year. Frances attended Jefferson High School in San Antonio, and is found in the Monticelio Yearbook in 1940, 1941, and 1942. in the 1950 U.S. census, Frances Smith, 25, was now the only one still at home with her mother, Annie Smith, 66. Frances was a bookkeeper for the City Water Company, and the census indicates that she was divorced. At one point, Frances lived at 245 Club Drive, San Antonio. In May 1968, Frances Elizabeth Smith, 43, now living in Carmichael, California, and Robert Alfred Miller, 47, living in Sacramento, took out a marriage license. They were married 1 Jun 1968 in the Presbyterian Church, Tahoe City, El Dorado, California. Bob's mother, Evelyn Miller, attended the wedding and their best friends, Lorraine and Leland Leete, stood up for them. In 1974, 1975, and 1976, Fran and Bob attended sales conventions in Brooks Hall in San Francisco for Bob's company, Miller Sales. Before and after retirement, they took many vacation trips. Fran was the principal photographer. They visited family in Southern California and friends in Texas. They visited Portland, Banff, and Hawaii. She took photographs while Bob fished, golfed, and barbequed. Bob died 7 Jan 1984 in Sacramento, California. On 14 Nov 1987 Frances married their friend Leland Lester Leete in Tahoe City. Leland's wife Lorraine had died just three months after Bob. Their addresses included Carmichael and Sacramento. Frances Elizabeth Smith Leete passed away 7 Oct 2018 at age 93 in California. She was buried in the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, Dixon, Solano County. Her husband Leland, a World War II was buried with her when he passed in 2024. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
