Notes: Cecil Kenneth Campbell was born 13 Mar 1904 in Minneapolis, Ottawa, Kansas. He was
the only child of Albert Campbell and Nettie Pauline Haley. In the 1910 U.S. census, Cecil, 6, was
living with his parents on their farm in Tyrol Twp., Griggs, North Dakota. His father was a grain
farmer. The 1910 Tyrol Twp. map shows Albert owning 2 adjacent
quarter sections, consisting of 320 acres. [SW ¼, Sec 14, and NW ¼, Sec. 23] Cecil's family is found in both the USA and Kansas census records, Tyrol Twp., from 1910 through 1925. In 1914, their farmhouse burned down, and his father Albert built a modern house with Delco lights and plumbing. On 25 Oct 1929, Albert was murdered by a neighbor, John Slabber. In the 1930 U.S. census, Tyrol Twp., Cecil, 26, is listed as head of household, and owner of the farm. His mother Nettie, 49, is now widowed. Living in the household were two helpers, Elizabeth Rogers, 49, born in Ontario, and Marjorie Boltz, 20, born in North Dakota . Cecil married Myrtle Emily Steffen in 1930. They had one daughter, Donna Mae. Myrtle died 8 Nov 1939. In the 1940 U.S. census, Tyrol Twp., Cecil's mother Nettie was listed as head of the household, which consisted of Nettie, Cecil, and his daughter Donna Mae. Cecil was listed as farm operator, and Nettie as farm partner. Cecil had had one year of high school. Living in the household was Edith B. Leir, 18, a house servant Cecil married Gertrude Pfeifer in 1941. She died 17 Sep 1950. Cecil married again to Mary Rheinhart in 1953. Cecil died 9 Mar 1955 in Griggs County, North Dakota. He is buried in the Cooperstown Cemetery, Cooperstown, North Dakota. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
