Notes: Frank Forrest Cole was born 8 Dec 1898 in Nephi, Juab, Utah. He was the sixth and last
child of James Edward Cole and Sarah Frances Mangum. His older siblings were Hazel Dell, born 1886,
Earl James, 1887, Allen Ray, 1891, Edgar Richard, 1893, and Thelma Sarah, 1895. In the 1900 U.S. census, Frank was living with his family in Nephi, Juab, Utah. His father James was a sheepherder. The children were Hazel D., 14, Earl James, 12, Allen R. Cole, 8, Edgar R. Cole, 7, Thelma S., 5, and Frank F., 2. The oldest four children were in school. In the 1910 U.S. census, Frank was living with his family on South Square Street, Nephi. His father James, 40, was still herding sheep, and had a corral. His mother Sarah, 32, was keeping house. The children at home were Earl, 21, a clerk in a confectionary store, Roy, 19, Edgar, 16, Thelma, 14, and Frank, 12. In Sep 1918 when Frank registered for the World War I draft, he was working as a farmer for his father in Nephi, Juab, Utah. He was 20 years, and described as being short, of medium build, with brown eyes and black hair. In the 1920 U.S. census, Nephi, Frank, 22, was a farm laborer, still living with his parents. His father James, 62, was a general farmer, and his mother Sarah, 54, was keeping house. Also at home was his brother Edgar, 26, a farm laborer, and a young niece, Enid Beagley, 6. Frank married Elma Hinton of Hurricane, Utah, on 26 Jan 1925 in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah. In the 1930 U.S. census, Frank, 32, and his wife Elma, 25, were living at 495 E. Center Street, Nephi, Juab, Utah. They owned the residence, which was on a farm, and did not have a radio. Frank was a laborer at a gypsum mill. Their children were Keith, 4, Nadine, 3, Elwin, 2, and Jeannine, 11 months. In the 1940 U.S. census, Frank Cole, 42, and his wife Elma, 36, were living in the same house as in 1936 on Center Street, in Nephi, valued at $1,000. Frank was a weed eradication foreman for the Work Projects Administration. He had completed eighth grade; Their children were Keith, 14, Nadine, 13, Elwin, 12, Jeannine, 10, Lu Rae, 8, Carma, 7, Gail, 6, Carolyn, 5, Erma, 2, Lanna Ross, 1, and an infant, 2 months. Two additional children were added to the family after 1940. Frank died 25 Oct 1973 at the age of 72 in the Utah Valley Hospital, Provo, Utah, Utah. Funeral services were held Monday, 29 Oct 1973 at the Nephi First Ward Chapel. Burial followed in the Nephi City Cemetery, Nephi, Juab, Utah. He was survived by his wife, four sons, nine daughters, 57 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and two sisters. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
