Notes: Franklin Staheli married Paula Wilhelmina Reber on 17 Sep 1895 in Santa Clara.
Their marriage was sealed in the St. George Temple on 24 Dec 1895. They made
their home in Washington, a little town just north-east of Santa Clara. Frank and
Polly had 13, maybe 14 children, most of whom died early or as infants. In the 1900
U.S. census, Frank and Polly were listed with Hattie, age 3, and Franklin Lamar, 3
months. Polly had had four children, these two still living. George
Fredrich and an unnamed child had already died. Frank was a day laborer. In the 1910 U.S. census, the family was living on Chidester Street, and Frank was a carpenter. The five children living children included Hattie, age 13, Hilda, 6, Sylva, 4, and twins Tessie and Jessie, 6 months. Franklin Lamar had died in 1901, and Bessie had been born and died in 1901. In the 1920 U.S. census, Frank was now listed as a farmer. The children at home included Hilda, age 16, Sylva, 13, Tessie, 10, Woodrow Wilson, 6, and Dora, 1. Jessie (one of the twins) does not appear in the census, and Tessie dies in 1920 before the census was taken, so it may be Jessie that appears in the census record. Two daughters had been born and died in the year of their births, namely Zelonia in 1912, and Clorene, 1916. In the 1930 U.S. census, Frank's occupation was truck farmer, and his son Woodrow was listed as a truck driver. Only Woodrow, age 16, Dora, 12, and their youngest daughter, age 4, remained at home. In 1947, both Frank and Polly continued to sing as members of the Swiss Singers. Frank died 28 Jul 1967, and Polly died 20 Feb 1968. Both are buried in the Washington City Cemetery, Washington, Utah, along with most of their children. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
