Notes: According to family records, James Gavin Detwiller married Georgina Throncroft on 20
Sep 1911, in the Imperial Presbyterian Church of which James Gavin was a
board member. An Anglican minster from nearby Watrous married them.
In the 1916 Saskatchewan census, they were living on Wood Creek, Last Mountain,
Saskatchewan. They had an 8 month old daughter, Elizabeth, and were
farming on his homestead. James' brothers, Innis and Robert were also
farming on their adjacent homesteads.
In the 1921 Canada census, James, age 45, and Georgina, 37, are farming their
homestead. Their daughter Elizabeth is 5 years old. James Needham, 74,
is living with the family, working on the farm.
In 1935, 1938, 1940 and 1945, James and Georgina are listed in the Canada Voter
List in the Lake Centre district, Saskatchewan. They retired from
farming in 1949 and moved into the village of Imperial. They later moved
back to Ontario to be near their daughter Elizabeth. James Gavin died
24 Oct 1955. Georgina died 8 Jun 1971, and both are buried in the
Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatam, Kent County, Ontario. |
