Notes: Ivan Felix, 21, and Gladys Thompson, 19, were married on 1 Oct 1934 in the LDS Temple,
Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah. The 1939 City Directory lists their address at
689 S 4th East, Springville, and identifies Ivan as a farmer.
In the 1940 U.S. census, Ivan Felix, 27, and his wife Gladys, 25, were living at 440 East 7th South,
Springville, Utah, Utah. They owned their home, valued at $250. Ivan was a custodian
for the armory. Both Ivan and Gladys had completed four years of high school. They had
three children, James I., 4, Carl J., 3, and Gordon K., 1. Later, Beth would be added to the
family.
On 3 Mar 1941, Ivan enlisted in the National Guard, serving as First Sergeant in the Corps of
Engineers. He was active in the boy scouts, in the local Democratic party, and in the
LDS Church. From 1944 forward the City Directory lists their address at
665 South 4th East, Springville, and identifies Ivan as a carman or
inspector for the Union Pacific Railroad.
Gladys died 28 Jan 1953 of a thrombosis, and was buried in the
Evergreen Cemetery, Springville, Utah. Ivan married Juanita Barney Alvey six months
later. He died 8 Jul 1998 and was buried next to Gladys. |
