"Noble was killed in action on the west front on April 8th, Easter Sunday." [1917] "Details of his death are lacking there being but a brief official message that Noble had died on the battlefield 'somewhere in France' on April 8th, during an attack on the German positions." Also, undated newspaper Article from Olson/Noble memorabilia. "Cranbrook" "The sad news was received by the parents of Pte. Walter Noble that he had made the greatest sacrifice possible for a great cause when on Easter Sunday he gave up his life in France. He enlisted with the 161st Battalion and went overseas last Fall and with the draft this Spring to the trenches. His brother Harvey is also wearing the King's colors at the battle front. The sorrowing relatives are accorded widespread sympathy in the great loss sustained. Walter courageously did his duty and will long be remembered. He was the son of Jas. and Mrs. Noble, of this locality." | ||||
