Melissa Thompson, 80: Former Resident of Springville Dies In Salt Lake SPRINGVILLE - Melissa Miner Thompson, 80, former resident of Springville, died Monday night in a Salt Lake City rest home of a heart ailment. She was born Sept. 30, 1883, in Springville, a daughter of Don Carlos and Delila Davis Miner. She married James Albert Thompson Dec. 13, 1913, in Springville. Mr. Thompson died in 1934. Mrs. Thompson was a member of the LDS Church and active in the Relief Society. She made her home in Springville until 1950, when she moved to Salt Lake City. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Avis Gerbic of Midvale; 13 grandchildren; four brothers and one sister, W. D. Miner of Tooele; Charles Miner of Salt Lake City; Roscoe Miner of Midvale; Alma Miner and Mrs. Otis (Velma) Hjorth of Springville. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 1 p.m. in the Wheeler Mortuary Chapel, with Bishop Carlos Hjorth of Mapleton officiating. Friends may call at the mortuary Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday prior to services. Interment will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery. |
