Notes: According to family sources, Levi Gregory Metcalf was born 7 Sep 1885 in Springville, Utah,
Utah. His parents were Levi Gregory Metcalf and Margaret Eleanor Llewellyn. Lucy Deseret Warren
was born 2 Mar 1886 in Mapleton, Utah, Utah. Her parents were Amos Benoni Warren and Caroline Lucy
Fullmer. Levi G. Metcalf, 20, married Lucy Warren, 19 on 19 Apr 1905 in Utah County, Utah.
The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. They had a family of eleven children. In the 1910 U.S. census, Levi Gregory Metcalf, Jr., 23, and his wife Lucy Warren Metcalf, 23, were living in Springville Ward 4, Utah, Utah. Levi was a contractor for the railroad, working on his own account. Lucy had had two children, both then living. The children were Levi Warren, 4, and Frank Max, 2, both born in Utah. They were renting their residence, and were enumerated next to his parents. On 18 May 1910, their daughter Lucy May Metcalf, later called Utahna May, was born in Mapleton, a suburb of Springville. Her birth certificate lists her parents' residence as Burney, Idaho, and her father Levi Gregory as a contractor. On 12 Sep 1918, Lee Gregory Metcalf, 23, registered for the World War I draft. He and his wife Lucy D. Metcalf were living in Richfield, Lincoln, Idaho. He was a farmer, and was described as being of medium height and build, with gray eyes and dark brown hair. In the 1920 U.S. census, Levi G. Metcalf, 34, and his wife Lucy D. Metcalf, 33, were living in Richfield, Lincoln, Idaho. Levi was a farmer, both an employer and working on his own account. They were renting. The children were Warren L., 14, Frank, M., 12, Utahna M. 9, Harris B., 6, Jane W., 3, and Clarice 1. The older three, all attending school, had been born in Utah. The younger three had been born in Idaho. In March 1921, Levi G. Metcalf, Jr., and Mrs. Lucy Warren Metcalf were disfellowshipped by the Mormon church for practicing "the doctrine of wife sacrifice". [ See newspaper article]. They had been members of a cult in eastern Juab county, Utah. The Redlands, California, City Directory, 1925 lists L.G.and Lucy Metcalf at 25 Terracina Blvd., Redlands. L.G. was listed as a rancher. In the 1930 U.S. census, after some time in Utah and California, Lee G. Metcalf, 44, and his wife Lucy B. Metcalf, 44, were again living on a farm in Richfield, Lincoln, Idaho. Lee was a general farmer working on his own account. They were renting and did not own a radio set. The children were Max F., 21, a farm laborer; Utahna M., 18, Blaine H., 15, Clarice, 11, Grant S., 9, all attending school; and Gregory P., 7, Helen L., 6, Monte E., 3, and Maxine, 1. Grank and Gregory had been born in Utah; Helen and Monte had been born in California; and Maxine had been born in Idaho. The Modesto, California, City Directory, 1937 lists Lee and Lucy Metcalf, along with Blaine, Jane, Clarice, Grant, Gregory, and Helen at Route 1, Box 821. Modesto. In the 1940 U.S. census, Lee Metcalf, 55, and his wife Lucy Metcalf, 54, were living at 105 Oak Street, Modesto, Stanislaus, California. They owned their residence, valued at $2,500. Lee was a laborer, had earned $424 in the prior year, had other sources of income, and had completed two years of college. Lucy had earned $35 in the prior year, and had completed four years of high school. The children at home included Samuel Grant, 19, and Paul Gregory, 18, both road work laborers with two years of high school; Helen, 16, three years of high school; Monte, 12, 7th grade; and Maxine, 10, 5th grade. The younger three attended school. The Modesto, California, City Directory, 1940 lists Lee and Lucy Metcalf, at 105 Oak, Modesto, including Grant as a resident. The Modesto, California, City Directory, 1941 lists Lee and Lucy Metcalf at 105 Oak, and lists Lee as a mechanic. On 27 Apr 1942 when Lee Gregory Metcalf, 57, registered for the World War II draft, called the "old man's registration", his residence was in Alameda, California. Levi Gregory Metcalf died 15 September 1944 in Redlands, San Bernardino, California. He was buried 20 Sep 1944 in the Hillside Memorial Park, Redlands, California. In July 1954, Mrs. Lucy Warren Metcalf, then making her home in San Francisco, California, returned to Mapleton to visit her friends and relatives. Lucy D. Metcalf died 19 Jul 1972 in a rest home in Fremont, Alameda, California. Her services were held in Cupertino, California.
