Notes: In 1885, the Henry and Mathilda Detwiller and their six living children, moved from
Ontario, Canada to the Township of Tyrol, Griggs County, North Dakota. Their farm
was located 7 miles north of Cooperstown. Their house consisted of two rooms
downstairs and two rooms upstairs. Their last child Harry was born in 1891,
and their fourth child William died in 1895. In the 1900 U.S. census, only
Alexander, Fred, Andrew and Harry were still living with them. They had a 19 year
old servant named Bell Bettie [sic], who was later to marry Andrew. Their son John
Henry was living nearby. Henry died 1 Dec 1900. |
