Notes: About 1905 William and Mary Rose LaPlant left Romness Twp., and moved back to Tyrol Twp.
In the 1910 U.S. census, William, 43, and Mary R., 36, were living in Tyrol Twp., with
Louis, 16, Neva, 14, Ethel, 12, and Bruce, 10. William was a grain farmer, farming
the W½ of Sec. 15, Tyrol Twp., Griggs. Louis was working as a farmer on the
family farm.
In the 1915 North Dakota State census, Neva was no longer listed with the family, as she had
just married and moved out. In the 1920 U.S. census, the household included William,
53, Mary R., 47, Ethel, 21, Bruce, 19, and Louis, 25. By the 1925 North Dakota State
census, only Bruce was living at home.
By the 1930 U.S. census, Bruce had moved out. The household included William, 64, Rose,
56, and Louis, 35, who had moved back in. Also in the household was Victor Strome, 20,
a helper.
William died 14 Jan 1935. In the 1940 U.S. census, both Rose M., 67, and her son
Louis A., 46, were listed as the farm operators. Louis had married Helen Retzlaff, 32,
and they had four young children, ages 5 years to 10 months. Frank Geiger, 30, a
hired man was also listed in the household. See
