War I draft on 29 May 1917, their residence was in Binford, Griggs, North Dakota. By
the 1920 U.S. census, Lars, 29, and Neva, 24, were living on their lifelong farm in Pilot
Mound Twp., Griggs, North Dakota. Their son Raymond was 9 months.
The 1925 North Dakota State census listed Lars A., 35, Neva, 29, Raymond, 5, and their
second son, Oliver, 3.
In the 1930 U.S. census, Lars, 39, owned the farm. Neva, 33, now had three children.
These were Raymond, 7, Oliver, 7, and Loretta, 4. Adolph Johnson, 30, was a farm
laborer. The family did not have a radio set.
In the 1940 U.S. census, Lars, 49, owned the farm, farming on his own account. He had
completed two years of high school, and had income from another source. Neva, 43, had
also completed two years of high school. Raymond, 20, and Oliver, 17, had both
completed the eighth grade, and were working on the farm. Loretta, 17, had completed
the eighth grade. Carol, 9, had completed third grade. The value of their home
was $1,200. |
