known when the house was built or bought. Dionys Romandy may not have lived in this home
before his death 3 Jan 1899. Their second son Dion was born in Alhambra in 1895, and Dionys'
funeral record indicates that their home was in Alhambra.
In the 1900 U.S. census, Emma, 27, is listed as a widow, with their two children, Gounod, 7,
and Dion, 5, living at 1013 Wall Street, Los Angeles. The house was owned free and
clear. The census and the 1901 Los Angeles City Directory lists Emma as a music teacher. The address is given as 1013 Wall.
In the 1910 U.S. census, Emma, 37, is listed as a music teacher in her own home. Her sons
are now 17 and 15.
By the 1920 U.S. census, only Dion, 24, a theater musician, is living at home. Emma, 45,
is a piano teacher. In the 1920 City Directory, Dion is listed as an assistant music
director for the Grauman's Theater, and Emma as a musician.
Emma cannot be found in the 1930 U.S.census. In the 1940 U.S. census, Emma, 69, is listed at
1015 Wall Street, Los Angeles. She owned the home, valued at $2,000. She had a boarder,
Robert Tippet, 35, a merchant marine sailor.
