Notes: In the 1925 Kansas State census, Kenneth Ballou, 28, and Ruth N.
Ballou, 23, both born in Kansas, were living in Sheridan Twp., Ottawa, Kansas.
They had a daughter, Mary M. Ballou, 2. Kenneth was a farmer, grain and stock, and they
were renting.
The 1930 U.S. census lists R. Kenneth Ballou, 33, Ruth N. Ballou, 28, and children, M. Maxine,
6, Dorothy R., 4, and LaVerne K., a baby. Still renting and farming, the family had a radio
set.
The 1940 U.S. census lists K. Russel Ballou, 43, still renting and farming. He had completed
one year of college. Ruth Ballou, 38, had completed 4 years of high school. The children
were Maxine, 16, two years of high school, Dorothy 14, ninth grade, LaVerne, 10, third grade, and
Alvin, 8, second grade. They were renting the same house as in 1935, and the monthly rent
was $5. |
