Notes: According to family records, Joseph Edward Gubler was born 9 Jan 1872 in St. George, Washington,
Utah. His parents were Heinrich Gubler and Anna Margaretha Wickii. Mary Amelia Hunt was born 15 Sep
1875 in St. George. Her parents were Isaac Hunt and Partha Ann Barney. Joseph and Mary were married
25 Dec 1894 in St. George. They had a family of nine children, the first six being born in St. George.
Two children, Mary (1898 - 1899) and Antoine (1900 - 1901) died young. The last three were born in La Verkin,
Washington, Utah.
In the 1910 U.S. census, Joseph E. Gubler, 38, and his wife Mary A. Gubler, 34, had been married 15 years and were
living in La Verkin, Washington, Utah. Joseph was a general farmer, and their farm was owned free of
mortgage. The children at home were Joseph E., Jr., 14, doing labor on the home farm, Margrett, 13, Parthann,
8, Kenneth, 5, Wickley, 3, and Harris, 1. The older three children attended school.
In the 1920 U.S. census, La Verkin, Joseph E. Gubler, 48, and his wife Mary A. Gubler, 44, were still farming.
The children at home were J. Edward, 24, a farmer working out on his own account, Parthia, 18, Kenneth, 15.
Wickley, 12, Harris, 11, and Nelma, 1 and 5 months. All but the oldest and youngest were attending school.
In the 1920 U.S. census, Joseph E. Gubler, 58, and his wife Mary A. Gubler, 54, were identified as living on Main
Street, La Verkin. Joseph was a general farmer. The children at home were Harris, 22, a minister for
the L.D.S. church, and Nelma, 11.
Joseph died 5 April 1945 in La Verkin. Mary died 22 Jul 1963 in St. George. They are buried in the
La Verkin Cemetery, La Verkin, Washington, Utah.
