Notes: Lillian was born 31 Aug 1887 in Alhambra, Los Angeles, California. She was the
sixth of seven children born to Hans Olson and Mary Staheli. Her older
siblings were Josephine, born in 1876, Ida, born in 1877, Henry, born in 1880,
George born in 1882, and Frank born in 1885. Her younger sister Mabel
was born in 1889. In the 1900 USA census,the family was living on Wilson
Avenue in Alhambra. She received her education in the Alhambra schools, through
high school. Lillian married Vernon A. Carr on 16 Jun 1909 in Alhambra. In the 1910 USA census, they were living on Garfield Avenue in Alhambra, and her husband was listed as a farmer of oranges. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Their daughter, Evelyn Mary, was born 3 Oct 1910. Their son
James Douglas was born 11 Oct 1914. In June 1917 when Lillian's husband
registered for the World War draft, they were living at 1611 W. Broadway, Glendale,
California. According to Donald Olson, they had
a chicken ranch on West Broadway. In the 1920 USA census, the family was living on Cypress Avenue in Covina, Los Angeles County. Vernon was again listed as a rancher of oranges. They now had three children. By the 1930 USA census, the family was living in Little Rock, out in the Antelope Valley. Here they established a pear and peach ranch in the dessert. In the 1940 USA census, Vernon was listed as a rancher. Their house was owned, with a value of $1,500. He and Lillian were sharing the house with their daughter Evelyn and son-in-law Willard Sinclair. Their granddaughter was 5 years old. Lillian had a high school education. Vernon died in 1947, and Lillian continued with the orchards with the help of her children. Lillian died 15 Nov 1978 in Littlerock.
