Notes: Vernon Albert Carr and Lillian Mae Olson were married by the Rev. S.T. Montgomery
in Alhambra, Los Angeles, California, on 16 Jun 1909. In 1910, they were
living on Garfield Avenue in Alhambra. Vernon was listed as a farmer of
oranges. Their daughter, Evelyn Mary, was born 3 Oct 1910. Their son
James Douglas was born 11 Oct 1914. |
In June 1917 when Vernon registered for
the World War draft, they were living at 1611 W. Broadway, Glendale, California.
According to Donald Olson, they had a chicken ranch
on West Broadway. Their son Frank Vernon was born 28 Feb 1919.
In 1920, they were living on Cypress Avenue in Covina, Los Angeles County.
Vernon was again listed as a rancher of oranges. They now had
three children. By the 1930 USA census, the family
was living in Little Rock, out in the Antelope Valley. Here they established a
pear and peach ranch in the dessert.
In the 1940 USA census, Vernon was listed as a rancher. Their house was owned,
with a value of $1,500. He and Lillian were sharing the house with their
daughter Evelyn and son-in-law Willard Sinclair. Their granddaughter was 5
years old.
Vernon died 26 Sep 1947. Lillian died 15 Nov 1978, and is buried in the
Pasadena Mausoleum in Altadena, California. |
