Notes: Irene was born 25 Sep 1901* in Fessenden, Wells, North Dakota. In the 1910 U.S. census,
she was living in the Village of Wishek, Youngstown Twp., County of McIntosh,
North Dakota. Her grandmother, Jennie Hill, was running a boarding house
with 12 boarders listed. There were also three servants. Irene's parents were John C. Nippolt, a bank teller, and Genevieve Nippolt, a telephone operator. Irene had one younger brother named Irwin W. Nippolt. Also living in the boarding house was Charles Hill, Jennie's son, who served as the boarding house clerk. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
In the 1920 U.S. census, the Nippolt family was living in Wishek, and had one boarder.
Her father John was now the Postmaster, and her mother was not working.
Irene was attending Normal School, and her brother was in high school. In the 1930 U.S. census, the family was living at 1423 Sixth Avenue, in the City of Fargo, Cass County, North Dakota. Her father was a state agent for fire insurance, and Irene was a public school teacher. An aunt was living with the family. Irene married Maurice G. Noble in the early 1930's. In the 1940 U.S. census, Maurice and Irene were living at 1044 Coolidge Drive, San Cabriel, Los Angeles, California, their long time residence. It had a wonderful shady backyard, where croquet was played on warm summer days. Living or visiting with the couple was Elaine Nippolt, age 8, Irene's niece. Maurice was a supervisor in a life insurance company. Irene had completed two years of college (Normal School), and was not working. Irene was active in the First Presbyterian Church of Alhambra, and in an Alhambra chapter of P.E.O. She and my mother attended my initiation into P.E.O. in Lompoc in 1969. Irene was a world wide traveler, as her husband's job as a geologist took her to far off places. Maurice died 8 Dec 1971. Irene's last residence was in Alhambra, Los Angeles, California. She died 14 Feb 1981 in Alhambra. Graveside services were held 18 Feb 1981 in the San Gabriel Cemetery, San Gabriel, California, the Rev. Russell J. Prentice officiating.
