Notes: Duane Walker Stewart was born 9 Nov 1932 in Hinckley, Millard, Utah.
He was the tenth of eleven children of George Lyle Stewart and Clara May Walker. His
father George was a farmer. His older siblings were Delna, born in Feb 1914; Norma in
Oct 1915; Walker in May 1918; George Lyle in Nov 1919; Florence in Nov 1921; then Mary;
Melba Jean in Aug 1925, Reed Murdoch in Sep 1927; and Joy in Jan 1930.  Duane's brother
Walker came down with influenza, then pneumonia in Nov 1932. He died just two weeks
after the birth of Duane. One more brother, Carl Don was born in May 1937. In the 1940 U.S. census, Duane was living with his family in Hinckley, Millard, Utah. His parents owned their farm, valued at $1,500., and were living in the same house as in 1935. His father George was a farmer, had completed four years of high school, and had earned $240. in 1939. His mother Clara had completed one year of college. The children at home were G. Lyle, 20, one year of college, working as a high school janitor, and had earned $175. in 1939; Florence, 18, three years of high school; Mary, 16, one year of high school, working as a janitor for the church school, and had earned $5. in 1939; Melba Jean, 14, 8th grade; Reed M., 12, 6th grade; Joy, 10, 4th grade; Duane W., 7; and Don, 2. All of the children except Don attended school. Duane graduated from Hinckley High School in 1951. He earned his associate's degree at the College of Southern Utah, Cedar City. While in college, he had leading roles in the operatic productions. He served a two and one-half year mission for the LDS Church in Finland. While in Finland, he worked in Helsinki, Pori, Lahti, and Hameenlinna. Upon his return, he served in the U.S. Army from September 1956 to September 1958, serving eighteen months in Germany in the Medical Corps. He spent another five years in the Army Reserve. Duane continued his education at Brigham Young University, earning his Bachelor of Science in 1961, his Master's degree in Family Life Education in 1965, and his PhD in Child Development and Family Relationships in 1971. According to his obituary, he became a teacher, marriage and family counselor, group home administrator, and drug and alcohol rehabilitation counselor. His personal side of life was interesting. Duane Walker Stewart married Helen Walser on 10 Jul 1959 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Apostle Spencer W. Kimball performed the ceremony. In September of 1959, a newspaper reported that Mrs. Helen Stewart was teaching Second grade in Grovecrest, and that she resided in Provo. Nothing more is known about this marriage. On 8 Feb 1964, Duane Walker Stewart married Marcia Mattice Madsen. Marcia had been married previously to Preston A. Madsen. There were probably eight children from this marriage. Marcia filed for divorce, which was granted divorced 7 Nov 1997 in Whatcom County, Washington. Four children were noted in the divorce records. Duane W. Stewart married Laurel A. Brennan on 14 Feb 1998 in Whatcom County, Washington. Laurel filed for divorce, which was granted 16 Jun 2000 in Whatcom County. Duane again married Laurel on 16 Mar 2002 in King County, Washington. Duane filed for divorce, which was granted 1 Aug 2003 in Whatcom County. Duane W. Stewart, 72, married Josefa Ivana Escorcia Espinola, 43, on 24 Dec 2004 in Whatcom County, Washington. Ivana was a native of Leon, Nicaragua. They shared the same address at 1130 N. State Street, Bellingham, Washington. Duane Walker Stuart died 25 Jun 2015 in Bellingham, Whatcom, Washington.
