Salt Lake Temple, Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah. In Jun 1917 when George registered
for the World War I draft, they were living in Hinckley, Millard, Utah. George was a
farmer, and they had two children.
In the 1920 U.S. census, George Stewart, 31, and his wife, Clara Stewart, 29, were living in
Hinckley, Millard, Utah. They owned their residence with a mortgage. George was a
farmer, doing general farming. Their children were Delna, 5, Norma, 4, Walker D., 1,
and George L., 2 months.
In the 1930 U.S. census, George L. Stewart, 42, and his wife Clara Stewart, 39, were living
on Side Street N.S. in Hinckley, Millard, Utah. They owned their farm, and George was
a general farmer. Their children were Delna, 16, Norma, 14, Walker D., 11, George L.,
9, Florence, 8, Mary, 6, Melba Jean, 4, Reid M., 2, and Joy, 3 months. All but the
youngest three children attended school. Walker D. died 29 Nov 1932.
In the 1940 U.S. census, George L. Stewart, 51, and his wife Clara W. Stewart, 50, were living
in Hinckley, Millard, Utah. They owned their farm, valued at $1,500., and were living
in the same house as in 1935. George was a farmer, had completed four years of high
school, and had earned $240. in 1939. Clara had completed one year of college. The
children at home were G. Lyle, 20, one year of college, working as a high school janitor, and
had earned $175. in 1939; Florence, 18, three years of high school; Mary, 16, one year of high
school, working as a janitor for the church school, and had earned $5. in 1939; Melba Jean, 14,
8th grade; Reed M., 12, 6th grade; Joy, 10, 4th grade; Duane W., 7; and Don, 2. All of the
children except Don attended school.
In the 1942 World War II draft registration, George Lyle Stewart, Sr., 53, and Clara W. Stewart
were living in Hinckley, Millard, Utah. George was self-employed. All newspaper
articles regarding the marriages of their children, and George Lyle Stewart's death certificate,
give Hinckley as their place of residence. |
