Notes:  Clara Peterson was born 31 Jul 1910 in Eureka, Juab, Utah.  She was the fifth child of Niels Alma Peterson and Annie Sophia Walker.  Her brother Karl Alma was born in 1901, and sister Verda in 1904 in Hinckley, Millard, Utah.  Her brother Laurence was born in 1905, and brother Francis Leon in 1907, both in Eureka.  Her three younger siblings, born in Eureka were Owen Rumel born in 1912, Zella in 1915, and Vernon LeRoy in 1917.  Her father Niels was a stationery engineer for the mines.

In late 1918, the Peterson family moved to Provo, Utah, Utah.  In the 1920 U.S. census, the family was living at 358 4th Street South, Provo Ward 2.  They owned their house with a mortgage, and her father Niels was an engineer for the Union Pacific railroad.  The children were Karl, 18, Verda, 16, Laurence, 14, Leone, 12, Clara, 9, Owen, 7, Zella, 5, and Vernon, 2.  Clara's last sister Elayne was born in Provo.

In the 1930 U.S. census, the Peterson family was living at 358 4th Street South, Provo.  They owned their house, valued at $3,000. and owned a radio set.  Clara's father Niels was a solicitor for a correspondence school.  The children at home were Lawrence, 24, solicitor for a correspondence school, Clara, 19, stenographer for a wholesale warehouse, Owen, 17, Zella, 14, Vernon, 12, and Elaine, 9.

Clara graduated from Provo High School and attended Brigham Young University.  Clara was one of the founders of the Clivell Club (the beginning letter C stands for her first name).  Clara married Benjamin Vern Peterson on 24 Nov 1934* in American Forks, Utah, Utah.  The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.  At the time of her marriage, Clara worked for the Evening Herald.  The couple had four children and made their home in Provo.

Before her marriage Clara was a stenographer for the Utah Wholesale Grocery Co. and then worked for the Evening Herald.  In later life she was a receptionist at Brigham Young University.  Clara was active in the LDS church, and socially in the Clivell Club, the Lady Lions, the Good Sam Trailduster Club, and the Provo Promenaders Square Club.

Clara died 10 Oct 1987 in Provo, and was buried 14 Oct 1987 in the Provo City Cemetery, Provo, Utah.

*The family reports and celebrates the marriage date of 24 Nov 1934.  The Utah, County Marriages index reports a date of 16 Feb 1935, Utah County.  The November date is reported in The Daily Herald on 19 Feb 1935.
