Notes: George Henry Walker, 23, and Alice Louisa Stout, 18, were married on 30 Nov 1898. According to family records, they were married in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah, as this is the date and place given for their L.D.S. endowments and sealing to each other in the Salt Lake Temple. The county marriage records give Millard County as the place of marriage, which was their place of residence.
Their first daughter Rela was born in Oct 1899. In the 1900 U.S. census, George, Alice, and Rela were
living with his parents in Hinckley, Millard, Utah. Leslie George was born in Jan 1902 (in Mammoth, Juab),
Reed Clemons in May 1904, Hosea Leone in May 1906, Alma Leo in Apr 1908, and Orson Whitney in Mar 1910.
In the 1910 U.S. census, George and Alice were living on their own farm in Hinckley, Millard, Utah.
George was a general farmer, farming on his own account. They owned the farm, free of mortgage.
They had been married eleven years, and Alice had had six children, all of whom were then living. Unfortunately, Alma Leo died 17 Feb 1911 from bronchial pneumonia following the measles. He was buried in the Hinckley City Cemetery. Jay Everett was born in Jun 1912, Elizabeth in Jun 1914 (in Rockville, Millard), Rolf Stout in Jul 1916, and Ned Stout in Jul 1918. Rolf died 28 Apr 1919 of pernicous anemia, and shares a headstone with Alma in the Hinckley City Cemetery. In the 1920 U.S. census, Hinckley, George and Alice, and their now eight living children, were enumerated in a house, not on a farm. George was a salesman for a lumber company. Karl Francis was born next, and Floyd Henry was born in May 1924. George Henry Walker died 21 Aug 1927, following gall bladder surgery in the L.D.S. Hospital, Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah. He was buried 24 Aug 1927 in the Hinckley City Cemetery. Rela died of apoplexy in 1928 in the Utah State Hospital, Provo, Utah, Utah. Elizabeth also died in the Utah State Hospital, of lombar pneumonia, with mental deficiency in 1930. They share a headstone in the Hinckley City Cemetery. In the 1930 U.S. census, Hinckley, Alice S. Walker, now widowed, was sharing the house with Reed, 25, Hosea, 23, Ned, S., 11, and Karl F., 8. She owned the house, valued at $2,000., and the family did not own a radio set. Alice is not found in the 1940 U.S. census records. The family had a history of mental illness or mental retardation. As noted above, Rela died in the Utah State Hospital in 1928, and Elizabeth in 1930. In the 1930 U.S. census, Jay E. Walker and Orson Walker are inmates in the Utah State Hospital. In the 1940 U.S. census, Floyd H. Walker and Orson Walker are inmates in the Utah State Training School and Hospital (for the feeble-minded), Pleasant Grove, Utah, Utah. Orson, Jay and Floyd share a headstone in the Hinckley City Cemetery. Alice died 6 Nov 1960 in Fontana, San Bernardino, California. This is the area where her son Reed was living. She is buried with her husband in the Hinckley City Cemetery, Hinckley, Millard, Utah.
