- "FIRE SWEEPS CHICKEN COOPS"
"SPRINGVILLE - Fire resulting from an explosion in the furnace pipe, destroyed a
chicken coop, 1600 baby chicks and 300 spring fries, at the home of
Jacob Felix, Springville poultryman at 9 a.m. this morning.
Diligence of the Springville fire department saved an adjoining coop and a
grain shed, although both were scorched by the flames.
The fire had gained a substantial headway before it was discovered by
a chance passer-by who turned in the alarm."

"In celebration of their golden wedding anniversary,
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas R. Greener entertained a large group of relatives and friends at an open house
reception at their home Thursday afternoon.
Mrs. Jacob Felix, a daughter, had the entertainment in charge.
The serving table was beautifully decorated in gold and white and the
same colors were artistically carried out in lovely refreshments. Presiding at the
serving table were the Miss Ileen Felix and Virginia Greener,
grand-daughters of the guests of honor.
In the evening the couple were further honored with a supper given
for members of the immediate family at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Felix".
