Notes:  Elizabeth Foust was born 10 Jan 1796 in Berks County, Pennsylvania.  Her parents were Jacob Foust and Catharine Ledy or Laty.  In the 1810 U.S. census, the Jacob Foust family was living in the Unity Twp., Westmoreland, Pennsylvania.  Elizabeth had 4 brothers and 2 sisters.

Elizabeth Foust married John McFarren about 1816, probably in Pennsylvania where both their families were living in the 1810 census.  In the 1820 U.S. census, Elizabeth and John "McForren", a farmer, were living in Salem, Highland, Ohio.  They had two children, Maria and Jacob..

In the 1830 U.S. census, the family was still living in Salem Twp., Highland. Elizabeth and John "McFerren" now had five children — Maria, Jacob, Adam, Wilson, and Mary.

In 1839, the family moved to Liberty Twp., Wells, Indiana.  They were among the first settlers of Liberty Twp., settling in Section 32.  In the 1840 U.S. census, Liberty Twp., Elizabeth and John "Mcferrin" now had nine children living at home — Jacob, Adam, Wilson, Mary Ester, Melissa, Elizabeth, and Margaret.

In the 1850 U.S. census, Liberty Twp., Elizabeth, 54, and John McFarren, 58, a farmer, had 4 children still living at home.  These were Melissa, 18, Elizabeth, 15, Margaret, 13, and John, 9, their only child born in Indiana.  The farm had a value of $800.

In the 1860 U.S. census, Liberty Twp., Bluffton P.O., Elizabeth, 63, and John, 68, had only one son, John, 19, and a granddaughter Rachel Neff, 13, living with them.  Their farm was valued at $1,000, and personal estate at $700.

Elizabeth and John moved to Nebraska.  In the 1865 Nebraska Census, Elizabeth, 68, and John McFerren, 72, are listed as living in Otoe County.  Their daughter Elizabeth, 29, and her husband Peter Fifer, 36, are listed next to them with three children; also their son John McFarren, 24, and his wife Mary A., 21, who had two children.

Elizabeth died 5 August 1865, in Nebraska City, Otoe, Nebraska.  She was buried in the Wyuka Cemetery, Otoe, Nebraska.
** After much analysis, Dan Hancock came to the conclusion that Elizabeth Foust and Martha Foust were the same person.  Martha Foust is recorded on John McFarren's (#3) death certificate as the name of his mother.  F. G. McFarren was the informant.  Bess McFarren also said that Martha Foust was the was the name of her great-grandmother.

Source 578 gives Elizabeth's full name as Anna Maria Elizabeth Foust; however, he found no evidence that Anna Maria was valid.  Further, Source 546 had said that Anna Maria died near Lincoln, Otoe County, Nebraska, on 5 Aug 1863.  However, Source 797 shows our Elizabeth was alive in March of 1865.  This convinced him that Anna Maria Foust was not our Elizabeth Foust.
