Death: George R. Bollschweiler

George Rupper Bollschweiler died Friday, September 19, 1997 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
He was born May 17, 1902 in Salt Lake City, Utah, a son of Frederick A. and Rosina Rupper
Bollschweiler. He married Verda Peterson on June 28, 1928 in the Salt Lake
LDS Temple. She died July 1, 1993. He was an active member of the LDS Church where he was a High Priest.
He fulfilled a mission to Germany from 1923 to 1926. He also served as a stake missionary, assistant ward clerk,
Stake Aaronic Priesthood Committee member, and various other callings. He and his wife served as temple workers in
the Salt Lake LDS Temple for five years.
He was the co-owner of the Deseret Cleaners and Dyers, retiring in 1961. He then served as supervisor over 65
employees at Deseret Industries, retiring from there in 1976.
Survived by his daughter, Joy (Wayne) Rose; son, Robert Peterson (Judy) Bollschweiler; 15 grandchildren; 30
great-grandchildren; and one great great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 23, 1997 at 12 noon, in the Hawthorne Ward, 808 East Roosevelt Ave.
(1465 South). Friends may call Monday 6 to 8 at the Deseret Memorial Mortuary, 36 East 700 South, and 10:45 to
11:45 prior to services at the ward. Interment will be in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.

Death: Verda Peterson Bollschweiler

Verda Peterson Bollschweiler died Thursday, July 1, 1993.
She was born February 14, 1904 in Hinckley, Utah, a daughter of
Niels Alma and Annie Walker Peterson. She married George Rupper Bollschweiler on June 28, 1928 in the
Salt Lake LDS Temple. She was an active member of the Hawthorne Ward. During her life she served as a
teacher, and as president of the Primary and Relief Society, and as a member of stake boards. She and her
husband served as temple workers in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
She served as secretary to the Utah State PTA where she was also the editor of the Utah PTA Bulletin.
She was a noted poet. Many of her poems were published. She was a member of the National League of American
Pen Women and Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She was a co-founder of the Simada Study Group.
Survived by her husband, George Rupper Bollschweiler; daughter Joy (Wayne) Rose; son,
Robert Peterson (Judy Dyer) Bollschweiler; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; brother,
Laurence Peterson; and sisters, Zella Michie and Elayne Rasmussen.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 6, 12 noon, in the Hawthorne Ward, 808 East Roosevelt Ave. (1460 So.).
Friends may call at the ward Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon just prior to the services. Interment, Salt Lake
City Cemetery.

Death: Benjamin Vern Bullock

Benjamin Vern Bullock, age 85, died Tuesday, May 11, 1993 at his home in Provo.
He was born February 25, 1908 in Provo, Utah, to Benjamin Hart and Nora Alice Broadbent Bullock.
He married Clara Peterson, November 24, 1934 in American Fork. The marriage was later
solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She preceded him in death October 10, 1987. He attended Provo City schools
and BYU. He spent his life time working in Utah's mining coal industry and was president of several mining and oil
companies. He was a charter member of the Provo Lions Club and worked in all offices including president.
He was an active member of the LDS Church and served in many positions including Scout master and High Priest Group leader.
He enjoyed music and sang many years with the Mendelson Chorus. He was an organizer of the Good Sam Trailduster Club
and enjoyed his travels.
Benjamin is survived by his stepmother, Maurien O. Bullock, Provo; three sons and one daughter, B. Neil Bullock, Provo;
K. Hart Bullock, Centerville; David V. Bullock, West Valley City; Beverly Jensen, Las Vegas, Nevada; 14 grandchildren;
18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 15, 1993 at 11 a.m. in the Berg Drawing Room Chapel, 185 E. Center St., Provo.
Friends may call Friday, 6-8 p.m. at the mortuary and one hour prior to services. Interment Provo City Cemetery.

Death: Ethel S. Peterson

Ethel Ruth Startup Peterson, age 88, died July 26, 1990 at a Price nursing home.
Born September 10, 1903 in Provo, Utah, to George A. and Emma Dunn Startup. Married
Karl Alma Peterson, August 30, 1922
in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died January 11, 1981. She was educated in Provo schools. Prior to her
marriage, she worked at her family's business, The Startup Candy Company in Provo. Together with her husband, she
established Peterson Candy Company in Price. Active member LDS Church, having served in numerous positions.
She enjoyed singing with several musical groups. Loved her summer home in Scofield and fishing at Scofield Reservoir.
Survived by one son, Dr. James Max Peterson, Colorado Springs, Colorado (formerly of American Fork); 12 grandchildren,
17 great-grandchildren, one sister, Evelyn Lane, Laverkin, Utah; one brother, Wayne Startup, San Lorenzo, California.
Preceded in death by one daughter, Rosalee Bell, two sons, Edwin (Ted), and Richard (Dick), two sisters, Amme Ridge,
and Margaret Ishimatsu, four brothers, Walter, Paul, Henry, and Max Startup, one grandson, Brian Bell.
Funeral services, Monday, July 30, 11 a.m., Price 11th LDS Ward Chapel, 300 West 500 South. Friends may call at the
Fausett Mortuary, Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m., and at the church one hour prior to the funeral. Interment, Price City
Cemetery.

Obituary: James Max Peterson

James Max Peterson, 60, died December 16, 1999, in American Fork, after a valiant fight
against ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease).
He was born February 19, 1939, in Price, Utah, to Karl Alma and
Ethel Ruth Startup Peterson.
He married Marva DeFriez on September 17, 1958, in Huntington, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake
LDS Temple on June 6, 1961. Jim worked in the integrated circuit industry throughout the U.S. His final years
were spent teaching chemistry in the Jordan School District. He loved spending time fishing with his family at their
summer home on the lake. He was a gentleman farmer and enjoyed working with his bees and animals. He was
affectionately known as the "Honey" man. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and charity towards all those
around him.
His survivors are his wife, Marva Peterson; children, Karl Peterson, Leslie (Dave) Hobbs, Michael (Janice) Peterson,
Amy Peterson; and nine grandchildren, all of American Fork. He was preceded in death by two brothers, a sister, and
his parents.
Funeral services will be Monday, December 20, 1999, at 11 a.m. at the American Fork 13th Ward, 975 North 60 East,
American Fork; with a viewing Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Anderson & Sons Mortuary, 49 East 100 North, American Fork;
and also Monday one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial is in American Fork Cemetery.
Family suggests donations in lieu of flowers be made to ALS Research, in care of U of U Dept. of Neurology, 50 N. Medical Dr.,
SLC, UT 84132.

Obituary: Laurence (Pete) Peterson

Laurence (Pete) Peterson, age 93, died on January 8, 1999, peacefully in his sleep at his
daughter's home in Highland, Utah.
He was born December 16, 1905 in Eureka, Utah to Niels Alma Peterson and Annie Sophia Walker.
He attended Provo High School and was active in sports, as captain of the football team, all-state quarterback, and diving
champion. His student government activity included serving as president of the student body. At BYU he played
quarterback on the football team in 1924-25 and again in 1928-29 after serving a mission under James E. Talmage for the LDS
Church in England. After marrying Wavie Orilla Williams on January 7, 1933, they were
sealed on March 29, 1933 in the St. George Temple. He was active in the LDS Church all of his life. He and Wavie
served a mission to Oregon in 1974. Wavie passed away in 1990. He has served in many positions including bishop,
high councilman, Sunday school teacher and home teacher as long as his health permitted. He loved the church and has
always felt that the most important thing in life is an eternal family. It thrilled him to see his posterity,
including spouses, reach the number of 100.
He worked in the dairy industry for five years in personnel and as an owner. For 15 years he worked in the steel and
pipe industries in management and labor relations, retiring from American Pipe and Construction Company in 1970.
His family will remember him as an active man of strength, integrity, and honor, and particularly for his love of children
and sense of humor that served him so well in his later years.
Laurence is survived by his four children and their spouses, Larry and Maureen Peterson of Darien, Connecticut; Patricia and
Ed Pinegar of Orem, Utah; J. David and Judy Peterson of San Diego, California; and Laurelee and Howard Passey of Highland,
Utah. Also surviving are 24 grandchildren and 50 great grandchildren; as well as two sisters,
Zella Michie and Elaine Rasmussen.
Funeral services will be held Monday, January 11, 1999 at 11 a.m. in the Berg Drawing Room Chapel, 185 East Center Street,
Provo. Friends may call Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the mortuary, or Monday morning one hour prior to
services. Interment Provo City Cemetery.

Death: Wavie Peterson

Wavie Orilla Williams Peterson, age 83, died in Provo, Utah, Sunday, August 12, 1990 of causes
incident to age.
She was born September 25, 1906, Kanarraville, Iron County, Utah, daughter of
John H. and Susannah Pollock Williams. She married Laurence Peterson, January 7, 1933;
their marriage was solemnized in the St. George Temple later that year. She graduated from the BAC in Cedar City,
Utah. She taught school in Parowan and Cedar City for eight years. She was active in the LDS Church where she
held leadership positions in the Relief Society, YWMIA and Primary. She and her husband served a mission in 1974 to
the Oregon Mission. She is a past president of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers in Southern California and was a
member of the Southern California Hand Weaver Guild. She made many long term friends in Utah, Hawaii and Southern
California; and shared her talents and love with all who knew her. She is survived by her husband Laurence, Provo;
two sons, Larry W. Peterson, Darien, Connecticut; J. David Peterson, San Diego, California; two daughters, Patricia Pinegar,
Provo; Laurelee Passey, Highland, Utah; 23 granchildren; 18 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by five brothers,
four sisters, a grandson, Cory Pinegar; and daughter-in-law Louise Sundahl Peterson.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 15, 1990, 11:00 a.m. in the Edgemont 15th Ward Chapel, 4000 Foothill Dr.,
Provo. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to services. Interment Provo City Cemetery.
