OBITUARY
      Hiram Jackson, son of James  and  Anna Jackson, was born in Montgomery County, Ohio, September 28, 1817, departed this life, August 4, 1908, aged 90 years, 10 months and 7 days.  He, with his father's family, moved to near Economy, Delaware County, Indiana, when he was five years old, and resided there until he was nineteen years old, when they came here to near Liberty Center, where he had since resided.  He was the son of the first white settler of Liberty township.  The first sermon preached in Liberty township was in his father's house.
      He was united in marriage to Mary A. Logan, August 16, 1838.  To this union twelve children were born, of which his wife and six children preceded him in death.  Those surviving him are Mrs. Mary A. McFarren, of Noble, Oklahoma; Joseph L. of Liberty township, Mrs. Nancy Ramsey of Ft. Wayne, Hiram, jr., of Poneto, Mrs. Martha Gooding, of NcNatis, George W., of Kingsland.  Those deceased are Rachel, Elizabeth, Samuel, Mrs. Margaret First, John and James.
      He was later united in marriage to
Mary J. Osborn, August 20, 1872.  To this union two children were born, Mrs. C B. Gerwig, of Liberty Center, who survives him, and one daughter, Anna A., deceased.  The deceased was a loving and faithful husband and father.  He united with the Liberty Baptist church nearly fifty years ago, and remained faithful until death.
      He leaves to morn his loss an aged companion, three sons, four daughters, thirty-six grandchildren, two brothers, Samuel of Liberty Center, Moses of Dallas, Texas, also a host of other relatives and friends.
