Notes: About the time of the death of her husband in 1909, Gertrude Haley moved into town.
In the 1910 U.S. census, she is listed as widowed, and living with her two daughters, Ida, 14,
and Mabel, 9. At the age of 36, she had her own income, and the house was owned free
of mortgage. They had a roomer by the name of Ethel Holden, 26, who was a public
school teacher.
In the 1915 Kansas census, Gertrude, 40, was listed as a housekeeper, Ida, 19, was a teacher,
and Mabel was in school. By the 1920 U.S. census and following, Gertrude is living
alone. In 1920, her home is identified as being on Elm Street in Minneapolis, and in
1930, the address is given as 601 Elm Street.
